Get to know Sebastião Salgado

Maybe there are some KEE friends who know about this photographer and his work. Sebastião Salgado initially worked as an economics expert. He worked at the International Coffee Organization in London which required him to travel to Africa and it was there that he became interested in photography. He started by becoming a freelance journalist in 1974.

He produced many documentary photos that tell a lot about the lives of some of the poorest and most powerless communities in the world . It tells stories of strength, hope, and nobility even in the bleakest of situations. He is known for his black and white photographs which are heavily influenced by Henri Cartier-Bresson and Robert Capa. Have a look at some of his work in the gallery below...
