The green line is the line that is recommended for cropping, while the red line is the line that is not recommended for cropping. There are 4 basic parts to cropping:
- Full length (from top of head to toes)
- Three quarter (Middle of thigh and above)
- Bust up (From the chest up, usually mostly used for portrait photo formats)
- Headshot (head part)
It is usually not recommended to crop at joints. For example, you crop at the elbow or knee. Your photo will look like it has no legs. Cropping is done to remove distractions, so you can focus directly on the main subject.
