The Living Photographs

The Living Photographs

Maybe some of KEE's friends have heard the name Arthur Mole. This British-born man is famous for his work The Living Photographs or living photos. He started during World War I by gathering 10,000 military troops who were arranged in such a way as to form an object that could be seen from the perspective of a viewing tower as high as 80 feet or the equivalent of 24 meters. If you look from the top of the tower you will understand what shape is being made. Arthur was assisted by an assistant named John D Thomas.

This is one of the photos. Make no mistake, KEE friends, making this photo is not an easy process. Not just standing, reportedly the 18,000 soldiers who were deemed suitable to form the statue of liberty had to wear woolen uniforms and stand under temperatures of 40.5 degrees Celsius for several hours! Wow, can you imagine how it feels...

The process itself can take several weeks. The method is to place an outline of the desired image on the camera from the top of the tower, then the soldiers below are directed to be exactly according to the existing markers. Here are some of the photos:

The results are really cool... But the effort spent is not half-hearted. Maybe there are KEE friends who want to try? ;)
