Jenis Shot Dalam Pengambilan Gambar (Part 1)

Types of Shots in Shooting (Part 1)

When taking pictures, there are various types of shots that are used and they have different functions according to the message to be conveyed. Several types of shots used:

1. Extreme wide shot (EWS)

Extreme wide shots are usually used to show the environment around the subject. Usually this type of shot is used to build atmosphere and the subject is almost invisible because the angle of view taken is very wide. Apart from that, this type of shot is also often used in films that use many people, such as large numbers of soldiers.

2. Very wide shot (VWS)

Very wide shots still show a very wide area, only narrower than extreme wide shots. You can still capture multiple subjects in one frame and the subjects can be quite visible. But the function of this shot is to establish the atmosphere of the environment around the subject.

3. Wide shot (WS)

When taking a wide shot the subject can be identified quite clearly. Usually also known as long shot, full shot and usually the subject is shown in its entirety with distance above and below the subject.

4. Mid shot (MS)

Mid shot is also known as a medium shot which shows several parts of the subject more closely. Usually showing from the waist to the head. This type of shot is often used as an initial stage before the cameraman takes a closer picture and shows the subject's emotions. Its function is to provide information, for example during interviews, or during dialogue in films.

5. Medium close up (MCU)

Medium close up usually shows the subject's face from chest to head. This type of shot can show the subject's emotions.

6. Close up (CU)

This type is usually used to emphasize the subject's emotions by taking only the head. Close ups can show details in the scene so that the audience can feel the emotions you want to convey.

7. Extreme close up (ECU / XCU)

Extreme close up is used to show subject details such as eyes, nose, mouth. Usually this type is rarely used and even if it is used there needs to be a strong enough reason.
